Watch Where You’re Going! Pt.1

Keep Your Eyes on The Road!

Clutch Student Ministries       Pastor Jordan Biel        Rock of Grace A/G      02.22.2006

Phil 4:4-9  Always be full of joy in the Lord; I say it again, rejoice! 5 Let everyone see that you are unselfish and considerate

in all you do. Remember that the Lord is coming soon. 6 Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything; tell God

your needs, and don't forget to thank him for his answers. 7 If you do this, you will experience God's peace, which is far more

wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will keep your thoughts and your hearts quiet and at rest as you

trust in Christ Jesus. 8 And now, brothers, as I close this letter, let me say this one more thing: Fix your thoughts on what is

true and good and right. Think about things that are pure and lovely, and dwell on the fine, good things in others. Think about

all you can praise God for and be glad about. 9 Keep putting into practice all you learned from me and saw me doing, and the

God of peace will be with you.”

- The Living Bible

Don’t be distracted by all the things and worries of the world – keep your eyes on the Road to Heaven, Watch were

you’re going!  Fix your eyes on Christ and meeting Him in Heaven.

Upon accepting Jesus Christ as our Savior, we begin a journey, with God  to God.

1.  Don’t Be Distracted!

Don’t be distracted from the thing God wants you to do.

Phil 4:11-13  For I have learned how to get along happily whether I have much or little. 12 I know how to live on almost

nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of contentment in every situation, whether it be a full stomach or

hunger, plenty or want; 13 for I can do everything God asks me to with the help of Christ who gives me the strength

and power.”  The Living Bible

2. Don’t Be Detoured!

Even Good things can be a distraction and detour us God’s purpose in our life any given day.

Eph 5:15-19  So be careful how you live, not as fools but as those who are wise. 16 Make the most of every opportunity

for doing good in these evil days. 17 Don't act thoughtlessly, but try to understand what the Lord wants you to do.

18 Don't be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, let the Holy Spirit fill and control you.”  NLT

3. Don’t Be Disengaged!

2 Thess 3:13never get tired of doing good.”  NLT

2 Thess 2:14-17  God called you to salvation when we told you the Good News; now you can share

in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.  With all these things in mind, dear brothers and sisters, stand  firm and keep a strong grip

on everything we taught you both in person and by letter.”

Watch where you’re Going!  We’re on our way to Heaven!  Don’t give up on the goal.

Titus 2:11-14  For the grace of God has been revealed, bringing salvation to all people. 12 And we are instructed to

turn from godless living and sinful pleasures. We should live in this evil world with self-control, right conduct, and devotion to God,

13 while we look forward to that wonderful event when the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, will be revealed.

14 He gave his life to free us from every kind of sin, to cleanse us, and to make us his very own people, totally

committed to doing what is right.”  NLT

You Have A Destiny (a God-given purpose)

*Fulfilling your God-given purpose, your destiny keeps you from being detoured and disengaged.

Let me ask you a question:  Right now, are you really living or only existing?

“Is your goal how long you will live or that you live?” – Erwin McManus

Living out your destiny – your God-given purpose is going have risks involved.

“Somehow we all know that to play it safe is to lose the game.” – Erwin McManus

We’ve only got one chance to “make the most of every opportunity.”  Time goes by so fast.

“Time waits for no one.”  – Erwin McManus

In fulfilling your destiny – in taking the journey that God has for you, there’s gonna be a lot of things that you’re unsure of.

But there is one thing you can always be sure of – GOD is with You!

If you’re constantly looking at what’s behind you, the mistakes you’ve made in the past, you will soon wreck.  You will wreck life.

You’ll be a mess;

WATCH WHERE YOU’RE GOING!!!

“To relive the past is to relinquish (give up) the future.”  – Erwin McManus

In Deut. 30:15-20, God gave the people a choice.  He said, you can choose death or life,

blessings our curses, “Now choose Life…”  -God  Deut. 30:15-20

“Choose Life”

“Your decisions determine your destiny.”  -Richard Crisco  (Every decision!)

Philippians 4:13  for I can do everything God asks me to with the help of Christ who gives me the strength and power.”

How do you live your life? – existing, surviving or thriving with purpose?

Phil 1:20-24  For I live in eager expectation and hope that I will never do anything that causes me shame,

but that I will always be bold for Christ, as I have been in the past, and that my life will always honor Christ, whether

I live or I die. 21 For to me, living is for Christ, and dying is even better. 22 Yet if I live, that means fruitful service for Christ.

I really don't know which is better. 23 I'm torn between two desires: Sometimes I want to live, and sometimes I long to go

and be with Christ. That would be far better for me, 24 but it is better for you that I live.”  NLT

GOOD Question:  Is it better for others that you continue to live?

Paul chose to live his life making a difference, advancing the Kingdom of God, obey Christ’s words to GO!

And make disciples.  WATCH WHERE YOU’RE GOING!!!

You’re life will soon be over – what’s on the other side is up to you.

You Have A Destination (Heaven is our Home)

Titus 2:13  we look forward to that wonderful event when the glory of our great God and Savior,

Jesus Christ, will be revealed.  NLT

1 Cor 15:22-28  Everyone dies because all of us are related to Adam(b/c he sinned), the first man. But all who are

related to Christ, the other man, will be given new life. 23 But there is an order to this resurrection: Christ was raised first;

then when Christ comes back, all His people will be raised.”  24 After that the end will come, when He will turn the Kingdom

over to God the Father, having put down all enemies of every kind.   25 For Christ must reign until He humbles all His enemies

beneath His feet. 26 And the last enemy to be destroyed is death. 27 For the Scriptures say, "God has given Him authority

over all things.”  28 Then, when He has conquered all things, the Son will present Himself to God, so that God, who gave

His Son authority over all things, will be utterly supreme over everything everywhere.”  NLT

Bottom line, God’s in charge.
