The David Generation Part II

Clutch Student Ministries       Pastor Jordan Biel        Rock of Grace A/G        01.25.2006

David set up a tent and placed the Ark of God there and people could come and go as they pleased

– worship God and be in His presence.

The David Generation is not afraid to Repent like David did, Dance like David did, & Worship like David did.

David wasn’t afraid or too prideful to repent when he messed up.

The book of Psalms is full of David expressing his heart to God- admitting his mistakes and failures & repenting

– asking God to forgive him.

David had a relationship with God.  A real, honest, down to earth, non-religious, relationship with God

David had a deep passion to know God intimately!

Ps 27:4-6  The one thing I want from God, the thing I seek most of all, is the privilege of meditating in his Temple,

living in his presence every day of my life, delighting in his incomparable perfections and glory. 5 There I'll be when

troubles come. He will hide me. He will set me on a high rock 6 out of reach of all my enemies. Then I will bring him

sacrifices and sing his praises with much joy.”  TLB

What’s the One Thing you want from God

These come up one at a time:

David chose to praise God no matter what his circumstance was.

Even when >  his family abandoned him as a kid

Ø      king Saul became jealous of him and tried to kill him

Ø      He was king and his wife ridiculed him and mocked him for praising God when he brought the Ark

back to Israel – that’s hard if your own wife…

Ø      his son, Amnon, raped his half-sister, Tamar, started a big mess…

Ø      his son, Absolom Amnon, then started a rebellion and war against David.

We have to know that what we do in life has consequences.

Gal 6:7-10  Don't be misled; remember that you can't ignore God and get away with it: a man will always

reap just the kind of crop he sows! 8 If he sows to please his own wrong desires, he will be planting seeds

of evil and he will surely reap a harvest of spiritual decay and death; but if he plants the good things of the

Spirit, he will reap the everlasting life that the Holy Spirit gives him. 9 And let us not get tired of doing what

is right, for after a while we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don't get discouraged and give up. 10 That's

why whenever we can we should always be kind to everyone, and especially to our Christian brothers.” TLB
