STOP SINNING!!!

Clutch Student Ministries          Pastor Jordan Biel        11.09.2005        Rock of Grace

1 Corinthians 15:34   Come to your senses and stop sinning!”

“Come to your senses” means: Don’t be stupid!  Sin is stupid!

What does stupid mean?  When someone does something stupid, it means that the negative consequence

was obvious, but they did it anyway.

Have you ever done anything stupid?  Yeah, me too.

Listen to me students: SIN IS STUPID!!!  YOU KNOW THE RESULT OF SIN!  SO COME TO YOUR

SENSES AND STOP SINNING!!!  STOP acting like Jesus never died for you!!!

Stop acting like you never made a commitment to God to live for Him

3 Things to do to keep yourself from sinning:

1.  Love God too much

The #1 way to stop sinning is to Love God.

Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your mind and with all your strength & Love your

neighbor as yourself.”

Love prevents sin.

2.  Fear Him

Fearing God means respecting Him as God.

The healthy fear of God will keep us from sinning!

Ex 20:20  Moses said to the people, "Do not be afraid. God has come to test you, so that the fear of God will

be with you to keep you from sinning."  NIV

“The fear of God, will be with you (WHY?) to keep you from sinning.”

God is your Father and He knows that those things that look fun to you will actually hurt you and destroy you

in the end.

3.  Read His Word

David said in Ps 119:9-12  I have hidden your word in my heart  (why?) that I might not sin against you. 12

“I will read and study the Bible, so I don’t sin against God today.”  PJV

Kneel in the morning and you won’t fall in the day.

Study the Bible, Love God and let Him bless you and order your steps.

There are 3 things that keep people from repenting and accepting God’s forgiveness

            1. They feel they have to earn it.     You can’t earn God’s grace and forgiveness

            2. They feel they don’t deserve it.       You don’t, but that’s why it’s grace.

                That’s why it’s mercy – undeserved forgiveness

            3. They feel they don’t need it.
